This is from last month

Here is one of their accounts, titled “I feared being disappeared”

the authorities can enter your home in the middle of the night to intimidate and harass you when you are not even suspected of a crime. A land of forced television confessions and six months or more in prison before you have access to a lawyer.

This is the maintenance of ignorance. They don’t want you to know exactly what’s going on with 1.5 billion people.

The Australian Cheng Lei was detained for “endangering national security” – that’s what sparked this travel warning. They still don’t know why she was detained. Some speculate it’s because she made critical remarks about the CCP on facebook. A few I’m finding are really tame, at least based on our standards over here. I see this as them intending to create a panopticon in the mind of Westerners. “If you visit here you better not say anything negative about the CCP.” I mean, after reading about this do you even want to visit there anymore? Seems like the message is to not even go there. Forcefully imposed ignorance of 1.5 billion people and how they’re controlled, I think that’s pretty profound, especially in light of the fact that they’re thee emerging world superpower.
