The more I learn about the Opium War, the more and more reprehensible details I find. The Qing empire sent a letter to British royalty in 1839 asking them to stop the smuggling. There was no response.
We have heard that in your own country opium is prohibited with the utmost strictness and severity:—this is a strong proof that you know full well how hurtful it is to mankind.
Well, there was a response if you count cannons and more opium as a response?
Wonder why the CCP is the way it is?
Notice anything about the years here?
If you google chinese opium den you’ll notice most of the pictures are of people laying around.
It was near the time of the American Revolution over here that the Brits started selling it to them. I wonder why we would have revolted against people like that? There’s probably a connection there- that Americans are indirectly responsible for cutting ties with Britain, “forcing” them to find someone else to exploit.
The opium trade pretty much stopped, finally, in 1917. Know when the CCP was founded? 1921.
We’re dealing with this ourselves now. It’s very real. It’s the reason everyone hates the president. “Drugs pouring over the border”. And guess where much of the opiates are from that Mexico imports and then exports to us? That’s like a subtle revenge on the part of China. No one ever mentions any of this, they just signal that they hate the one who pointed it out and tend to be silent altogether about China and Mexico. “Don’t say things! Let what happened to China happen to us!”
