Historiography of historiography

These Russians call themselves Americanists, a word I don’t hear enough–in fact I’m not sure I’ve ever heard that word, that’s what I try to be.

60 years they’ve been studying us

Monographs on all of our wars, among other things. They’ve been keeping a close eye on us

This is similar to how we have indigenous studies in universities here, except they’re studies about us instead! This is a discipline I wouldn’t expect from many other countries, if any. I’m finding lists of people who are essentially “professional understanders” of America. Too many to list. Every minute spent on Yandex I realize more and more why they try to demonize Russia. Scientists in white coats, and the country we’re living in is the lab experiment. This is what I’ve been looking for, who needs ETs. I’m reading here that “American Studies” began in the 1930s over there. As you can see from the beginning of this post, there’s a generation that’s aware of even itself and its own historiography

The MSM would sound pretty stupid if they de-euphemized their language and yelled “Don’t listen to those contemporary Americanists!”

This is so refreshing to see

Who would ever want to click a link that looks like this anyway?

“We’ve been studying you for 80 years, we don’t know what we’re talking about.”
